International Paramedics Day
Launched in 2022, International Paramedics Day takes place on the 8th July every year.
International Paramedics Day is important as it helps to build a better understanding of the breadth and depth of work carried out by paramedics around the world. This year, the theme is “The Difference We Make”.
We are so very proud of all of our staff, so this special day is celebrated here at BM. Our Paramedics are asked to react at short notice, while other days can be constant nursing care on a long distance transfer. The difference they make to patients, in both rapid intervention and long-term care and outcomes is simply amazing.
Launched in 2022, International Paramedics Day takes place on the 8th July every year, as this marks the anniversary of the birth of Dominique-Jean Larrey, the man often referred to as the ‘father of modern-day ambulance services’.
International Paramedics Day sets out to:
- Celebrate paramedics and first responders around the globe and the vital role they play
- Acknowledge the difference paramedics make to people’s lives in almost every imaginable situation
- Raise awareness of all the settings where paramedics work including primary and secondary care, GP surgeries, military, offshore, helicopter emergency medical services, education, research and telephone triage systems
- Promote the profession to aspiring paramedics and students
On Monday, if you see someone in uniform, paramedic or not, maybe offer them a nod and mention of Monday being a day to recognise them. Thank you to all of our staff – it’s the whole picture that makes it happen, with all grades and roles getting patients where they need to be with care.
