New Bariatric Ambulance Launched in Kent
BM Ambulance Service is proud to announce the launch of our brand new Bariatric Ambulance Kent, specially equipped to safely transport patients weighing up to 400kg (62 stone). Based in Ashford, this specialist vehicle enhances our ability to deliver dignified and secure care to patients across Kent and the South East.

Standard ambulance stretchers typically accommodate patients up to 180kg. Our new Megasus bariatric stretcher supports up to 400kg, ensuring a safe, stable and comfortable journey. The vehicle also features an integrated winch system to reduce manual handling and enhance crew safety during patient transfers.
“We are thrilled to have taken delivery of our new Bariatric Patient Transport Ambulance. This investment allows us to meet rising demand and provide safe, comfortable, and dignified care for larger patients. It’s about supporting both our patients and our staff.”
— Craig Bickers, Director, BM Ambulance Service
