We are proud to share that BM Ambulance Group is now a signatory of the United Nations Standards of Conduct for Business, joining a growing list of organisations committed to tackling discrimination against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) people in the workplace and beyond.

The UN Standards are a globally recognised framework that outlines how businesses can support LGBTI rights and take measurable action to build inclusive, respectful, and equitable workplaces. By signing, we reinforce our commitment to dignity, fairness, and equality across every part of our operations — from recruitment to patient care.

Craig Bickers, Managing Director of BM Ambulance Group, said:

“By adopting these standards, we are taking proactive steps to combat discrimination, promote diversity, and foster a culture of acceptance and understanding. Embracing diversity is not just about doing the right thing; it’s about creating a vibrant, inclusive culture where every colleague can thrive. A diverse workforce not only drives innovation but opens new perspectives and enriches our work environment. By endorsing these principles, we affirm our dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all colleagues, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression – taking a further step towards a more inclusive, equitable, and respectful workplace where everyone can feel safe and empowered.”

What Are the UN Standards of Conduct?

These guidelines, launched by the United Nations, offer practical recommendations for businesses to:

  • ✅ Eliminate workplace discrimination against LGBTI employees
  • ✅ Support LGBTI staff through inclusive policies and training
  • ✅ Stand up against public discrimination and hate
  • ✅ Act in the public sphere to advance LGBTI rights globally

They are not only aspirational but practical — giving organisations like ours a roadmap to actively contribute to positive change in our industry and beyond.

Why It Matters in Healthcare

As a CQC-registered medical provider, we care not only for our patients but for our people. Building an inclusive workplace in healthcare means understanding and supporting the needs of colleagues from all backgrounds and communities. It also helps us better serve the diverse public we protect every day.

Inclusion is a core part of clinical safety, compassionate care, and building trust in the service we provide.

Join the Movement

We stand alongside other progressive organisations who believe in equity, respect, and human rights for all. You can see the full list of businesses supporting this important cause here.

We will continue to develop our internal policies, provide training for staff, and speak up for inclusion — not just during Pride Month, but every day.
